With full containment of the 21-day-old Station fire in the Angeles National Forest expected on听Saturday, air quality has听in Eagle Rock.听

听Today's听air quality again is listed as "good," according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
The Station fire, which has burned more than 160,000 acres in the Angeles National Forest,听has been听slowly moving east into rugged wilderness areas, even further away from campus. The fire is now 91% contained.听听Fortunately, because of its location in northeast Los Angeles, Occidental has never been threatened by a major wildfire.
Although SCAQMD recommended avoiding outdoor exercise, staying indoors, closing windows, and taking advantage of air conditioning during the height of the fire, it听never recommended that schools close, or that anyone be evacuated because of air quality concerns.听Occidental听saw only a small increase in students complaining of discomfort related to air quality at Emmons Health Center.
